To partially close a trade in MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5), follow these steps:
-
Open the Terminal Window: Ensure the Terminal window is open. You can access it by pressing Ctrl + T or by navigating to View > Terminal.
-
Locate Your Trade: In the Trade tab of the Terminal window, find the open trade that you wish to partially close.
-
Select the Trade: Right-click on the trade you want to partially close, and select "Modify or Delete Order'.
- Change Order Type: Change the Type to "Market Execution".
-
Adjust the Volume: In the order closing window, you will see an option to specify the volume (lot size) you wish to close. Enter the desired volume to partially close the trade. The remaining volume will stay open.
-
Confirm the Closure: After adjusting the volume, click on the "Close" button to confirm the partial closure of the trade.
-
Verify the Trade: Once you have closed the order, check the Trade tab again to ensure that the trade volume has been adjusted as intended.
By following these steps, you can efficiently manage your trades by partially closing positions when necessary.
Shortcut tip: Instead of right-clicking, you can double-click on the order to immediately bring up the Market Execution window.
